SHANGHAIED, an original musical set in 1930s Shanghai, revolves around Tom, a Canadian boy living on the edges of Shanghai’s International Settlement, and Lily, a local Chinese girl who wishes to be adventurous and independent. While the two protagonists love each other, Lily’s family disapproves of their romantic relationship due to their ethnic and cultural differences. Their story intertwines with a plot revolving around gangsters, crooked police, and exploiting loopholes in the 1930’s Shanghai judicial system.
